Features & Capabilities

Halide Mark II is a premium iPhone camera app that delivers RAW, Macro, and full manual controls with a refined, one-handed interface. It features 14-bit RAW streaming waveform views, histograms, focus peaking, loupe, and an adaptive grid, plus Neural Macro for macro photography on any iPhone and an Image Lab for editing Process Zero shots.

Pricing and privacy: Halide is not free, but offers a 7-day trial for annual memberships and an outright in-app purchase option. The app is Private by Design—no trackers, no third‑party libraries, no data or photo transmission, and limited location data when sharing. It also includes iPad and Apple Watch companions, Siri Shortcuts, and a strong emphasis on user control over image processing with Process Zero.

User Reviews

Halide Mark II delivers strong manual controls and pro-grade image-making on iPhone, with compelling value through lifetime pricing and standout macro/focus tools. Repeated user concerns include price/refund issues, unreliability of manual modes, imprecise focus/zoom, saving delays, and feature gaps like no video and RAW/format limitations.
Pros
  • Offers true manual controls (ISO, shutter, focus, white balance) for pro-level photography on iPhone.
  • Turns the iPhone into a high-end camera, enabling results that resemble premium gear.
  • Lifetime pricing option provides strong value compared to ongoing subscriptions.
  • Notable macro/focus/zoom features that enhance close-up work and precise focusing.
Cons
  • Subscription-based pricing with recurring charges and difficult refund handling, leading to frustration.
  • Manual settings can reset to auto and are not reliably held, causing missed shots.
  • Focus and zoom controls are not precise: large focus brackets and limited, discrete zoom steps hinder framing.
  • Image saving/processing can be delayed or inconsistent; photos may not appear in the library promptly.
  • Feature gaps and format limitations (no video, limited RAW/MP options, 48MP support lacking).

“Batteries included” feels a little bit of an overstatement. I need basic contrast, highlight and shadow controls (at the minimum) if I’m going to be able to stay inside Halide and not have to go to another editor. To me, not yet worth the paid update.

I can't pay for the app, even though I have the right amount of money on my balance.

Who gave you the right to alter the interface to include a link to Halide Mark III. I’m not going to subscribe for a camera app, and I don’t want the link cluttering an interface I’ve already paid for.
