User Reviews

Dream Quest is a trailblazing, deep roguelike deckbuilder with huge replay value and influential design. It’s addictive and richly strategic, with varied classes and a no-pay-to-win approach. However, RNG-heavy balance and a limited card pool can make many runs unwinnable or repetitive, with some encounters countering builds and undermining fairness. Overall, it remains a landmark title that inspired later games and remains highly regarded by fans.
Pros
  • Deep, replayable roguelike deckbuilder with extensive class and card variety.
  • Innovative and influential; predecessor to Slay the Spire and a genre pioneer.
  • Highly addictive with long-lasting appeal; many players keep it installed for years.
  • Rich strategic depth and rewarding achievements; varied mechanics and class playstyles.
  • No pay-to-win or real-money purchases; in-game economy but no real-money monetization.
Cons
  • Balance issues and RNG-dominant gameplay; many runs can be unwinnable or feel luck-based.
  • Limited card pool can lead to repetition over time.
  • Certain encounters/enemies counter builds or feel overpowered, impacting balance.
  • UX/feedback can be unclear about why outcomes occur, reducing perceived fairness.

Hey, I am someone who’s blind, I thought your game was accessible, is there anyway you’d be willing to make the game accessible.

If I remember correctly, this game either invented the roguelike deckbuilder genre or was one of the very first. I appreciate its place in history and can see why it was so revolutionary. It provided several hours of addictive fun. Unfortunately it suffers from two major flaws: it gets repetitive over time due to the limited number of cards, and there are too many “take that, you’re dead and there’s nothing you can do about it” moments.
