User Reviews

Gamma Calculator Pro is highly valued for on-the-go shot-time calculations and widespread use among industrial radiographers. Users praise its usefulness and reliability, but several issues recur: OS updates can render it unusable, data gaps for D3/R-factor standards (AFGA/AGFA), and precision/decimal problems in measurements. Additional annoyances include a UI quirk when editing curie amounts and a lack of Gadolinium support. Overall, it’s a trusted, valuable tool that needs OS-friendly updates and expanded data coverage to stay dependable.
Pros
  • Widely used and trusted by X-ray professionals; an essential tool in many shops.
  • Excellent for shot-time calculations and on-the-go radiography work.
  • Long-term reliability and value; considered worth the purchase.
  • Described as an amazing tool for industrial radiography by users.
  • Supports field workflows and daily radiography tasks.
Cons
  • iOS/OS updates (e.g., iOS 16) can break functionality and stop the app from working.
  • Missing R-factor data for D3 variants (D3 AFGA, D3 AGFA) reduces coverage.
  • Precision issues in measurements (SFD rounding and missing/incorrect decimal places).
  • UI friction when editing the curie amount (cursor starts at the front, extra steps).
  • Lack of Gadolinium support in the decay calculator.

Between this app and another calculator app (x-ray_timer) I would say my whole shop uses this app for anyone that owns an I-phone. What drives me crazy is when you initially want to change the curie amount and the line always starts in the front of the initial number. Just an extra step moving the line to select the initial number and change it. We use this app every week here in Kansas.

Can you please add the R factor for D3. Also could you please make it so that the SFD and other measurements that need to be precise don’t round up or down?
