Features & Capabilities

The MobileFRG (Field Responder Guide) app from Priority Dispatch assists response crews to easily interpret the exact clinical or situational meaning of a response code transmitted from the dispatch center, using the Emergency Priority Dispatch Systems®, to their unit and puts it in one place: your mobile phone. Instead of guessing, or trying to flip pages when dispatch transmits a “15-D-2E” determinant descriptor code over the radio, the focused responder can simply touch key the code into the app (three taps only) and view the full code.
The app can run one, two, or all three of the IAED’s medical, fire, or police protocols.

User Reviews

MobileFRG shows value for field responders with an active agency license, offering fast, on-the-go access. However, access is heavily gated by licensing, with unclear acquisition steps and frequent errors, making it unusable for individuals or non-licensed agencies. Some praise its field usefulness and quickness, but many reviewers fault the UX and content density compared with physical references. Overall, its usefulness hinges on having the appropriate license.
Pros
  • Fast and easy to use in the field; quick access to information.
  • Valued by teams or agencies that have a license and thus widely used among users with access.
  • Provides information on the go, useful for field operations and EMS/dispatch contexts.
  • Does what it promises for licensed users, offering practical functionality in real scenarios.
Cons
  • Access is gated behind an agency license or activation code, with unclear instructions on how to obtain it.
  • Frequent license-related barriers and errors (invalid license, need to register device, center license required) limit use for individuals or non-licensed agencies.
  • Not free and requires purchasing a license key or center license, creating friction and extra cost for potential users.
  • User interface and navigation are criticized as clunky, with less information than traditional flip cards and requiring multiple taps to find appropriate codes.

Downloaded the app. Requires some sort of activation code or license. Does not offer any clues as to how to acquire said license or code.

This app may be valuable for EMTs and such whose agencies have a license, but to a scanner buff or such looking to translate what a 15-D-1 fire dispatch means, this app is not for us. Priority Dispatch requires that you enter license information before it will show you this information. They won’t even sell you their printed pocket guide. I can understand wanting to protect the dispatch coding process which is based on a lot of research, but not allowing people to see what the codes even mean is not in the public interest, and renders this app useless for anyone without an agency subscription. (Accepting the license shown also grants them permission to visit your premises and inspect your usage!)
