User Reviews

Most reviews describe the WestJet iOS app as unreliable and frustrating, with repeated login/auth failures, boarding pass/check-in issues, and frequent freezes. A minority report functional use after updates and some in-flight streaming perks for rewards members. The most mentioned points are authentication problems and the app’s failure to perform basic tasks, though occasional improvements are noted.
Pros
  • When it works, the app handles check-in, seat selection, and paying for baggage.
  • Recent updates (Feb 2026) have improved reliability for many users on the ground and in the air.
  • Rewards members can get in-app Wi‑Fi perks and stream content (e.g., Netflix, podcasts) during flights.
Cons
  • Frequent login/auth issues including inability to create an account, sign-in failures, and verification email problems.
  • Inability to check in or generate boarding passes via the app; users often must use the WestJet website or desktop browser.
  • App freezes, crashes, or becomes unresponsive when performing tasks like changing seats or adding bags.
  • Feature inconsistency or non-functionality (e.g., maps not working or inflight content access failing).
  • Overall reliability concerns dominate; many reviews describe a poor user experience despite occasional improvements.

I always get a window seat so I can admire our amazing earth while learning the names of interesting features we’re flying over. Previous map with the flight path from different windows/cockpit was really interesting. Current map has almost no info. What’s the point? I’ll just use Google maps instead. Also, it would be a big time-saver to be able to order inflight food/snacks/booze through the app instead of having to try to make yourself heard over engine noise. It’s just too much of a hassle to bother with.

Im a frequent flyer. I have status with a few different airlines. This app is by far the worst. Its slow, its clunky and it doesnt help for much. Westjet has been left behind, by a mile.

Look at what American Airlines is doing with their maps. Very helpful. Non-existent with WestJet!
