Features & Capabilities

ASRA Coags is a Chrome extension that transforms the ASRA anticoagulation guidelines for regional anesthesia and interventional pain procedures into a fast, reference-ready tool. It uses a universal code base and refreshed UI, available via a subscription or free with ASRA Pain Medicine membership. The extension provides rapid, drug-specific information and direct access to the latest regional and interventional pain guidelines (2025 and 2018 publications), helping practitioners reference mechanism of action, executive summaries, and full guideline documents at the point of care.

Features include drug-by-drug search (brand or generic names), guidance by block type and procedure, an Information (i) panel for mechanism of action and summaries, and access to the full guideline documents. Users can select a default practice area to tailor results, and members receive all ASRA society apps at no extra cost while non-members can access content via a low-cost annual subscription.

User Reviews

Clinicians praise ASRA Coags for valuable perioperative anticoagulation guidance and easy stop/restart workflow. The dominant issue is shifting from a one-time purchase to an annual subscription with little to no grandfathering, causing loss of access for former purchasers and accusations of a bait-and-switch. Some users report instability. Overall, content remains strong and credible, but the pricing model undermines sustained use for many clinicians.
Pros
  • Valuable clinical content and guidelines for perioperative anticoagulation.
  • Practical workflow with quick, tap-based guidance on stopping/restarting anticoagulants.
  • Credible, trusted source (ASRA) with respected guidelines from a nonprofit medical society.
  • Described by some reviewers as an amazing product with solid content.
Cons
  • Paywall/annual subscription after lifetime purchase; no grandfathering.
  • Loss of access for users who had paid previously; previously purchased licenses locked out.
  • Perceived unethical/bait-and-switch pricing and complaints about nickel-and-diming.
  • Ongoing cost for updates; price may be viewed as high for essential tool.
  • Some reports of instability/crashes after updates.

Mediocre app for a company that bait and switches you on your purchase.

Unbelievable that ASRA has put their guidelines behind a monthly paywall. Imagine if the ACC or AHA did the same? Delegitimizes the entire organization.
