User Reviews

Users praise FileBrowser Pro as a powerful, feature-rich manager with strong SMB/FTP/SFTP and cloud support, plus excellent iOS Files integration and active, supportive development. However, frequent complaints center on licensing confusion among similarly named apps, iPadOS/Finder-like restrictions, SMB reliability issues, slow file operations, and concerns about backup reliability. Balancing these strengths and drawbacks, the app is highly capable but can be frustrating due to licensing, platform restrictions, and performance UX.
Pros
  • Powerful, feature-rich file manager with broad protocol support (SMB/FTP/SFTP) and cloud integrations for cross-device access.
  • Excellent integration with iOS Files and cloud storage, making it a strong alternative to Finder for many tasks.
  • Active development and solid customer support, with frequent updates and a focus on function over bloat.
  • Widely used and trusted for daily use across devices, aiding file organization and transfers.
  • Notable new capabilities (e.g., 360 viewer) that expand the app’s usefulness.
Cons
  • Confusing pricing/licensing with multiple similarly named products (e.g., Mac app, iPhone bundle), unclear listings and billing.
  • iPadOS Finder-like limitations: cannot browse all On My iPad folders and cannot view outside the app’s own folder.
  • SMB reliability and permissions issues, with some users needing to switch to SFTP to stabilize connections.
  • Performance/UX friction, such as slow rename/copy operations and long 'Examining file...' or 'Estimating time...' indicators.
  • Backup/restore reliability concerns and transparency, including data loss reports during crashes or cloud backup gaps.

Just want to search phone for files created on a specific date. If this is possible with this app it is not intuitive even though the website says you can filter by date. I want my money back

Has seemingly every document option under the sun EXCEPT tags. Which was the one thing I actually needed. And connects to every third party storage drive EXCEPT Proton Drive. Which is the only one I use. It'll still be well worth the money just for the multipage document scanner that's not trying to track your information and file comparison option, but tags and Proton Drive are big, fat, gapping holes in what I actually needed a file manager for.
