User Reviews

Prime Print is praised for turning non-AirPrint printers into iOS-friendly devices, easy setup, and good value with flexible printing options. However, multiple reviews highlight reliability issues, inconsistent print quality, a less-polished UI, limited printer compatibility, and email-print limitations (IMAP-only). Overall, it’s useful when it works, especially for testing compatibility and enabling iOS printing on older printers, but reliability and coverage concerns are common drawbacks.
Pros
  • Turns non-AirPrint printers into an AirPrint-like experience, enabling printing from iOS devices
  • Very easy to set up and test with a lite version; supports automatic printer discovery or quick manual IP entry
  • Good value for money with an affordable full version and optional bundles
  • Offers flexible printing options like resizing photos and printing multiple pages per sheet
Cons
  • Reliability issues: the app sometimes stops working, crashes when adding a printer, or stops printing
  • Print output quality and sizing problems: wrong scaling (e.g., 5x7 becomes postage stamp) and blurry prints
  • Usability and documentation gaps: klunky interface and lack of clear instructions
  • Printer compatibility gaps: not all printers are supported; some require manual IP entry or workarounds
  • Email printing limitations: IMAP-only support; may not work with POP accounts

Happy as a clam since this app installed os level support to print on the 65 with just a few clicks. Good value. And folks I’m an old crusty QA guy and first impressions are important.

It worked 2 twice and after that stoped working. Didn’t change any settings. It just stoped working. Tried reloading printer few time and says it’s connected but nothing prints. Don’t waste your money on this app.

I think it may be a lack of testing, but I thought at first it was my network, the good thing that came out of that is I found it had a WPS feature and I synced it to my secondary router, which is connected to my transponders (wifi extender), but after I was able to print from the normal printer utility, apples, I tried it again and it just hanged. I was using it to print multiple photos on fewer pages, I was going to use it to arrange photos on a table so I could find the least jarring sequence for a slideshow, which would involve arranging the images by hand.. I suppose there must be an app online that can generate a PDF from multiple images then I could just use the pdf viewer to print the pages. I recall there was a php library that generates pdfs from images, so I just may make my own if I can't find one on the net.. The only thing I could imagine that prime print was doing was stuffing the printers spooler/cache with my massive 4MB Images and it was overloading the printer, but youd thing there would be enough memory in the printer to deal with that.. I gave it two stars cause I know this isn't all this program does, but I think they could do more testing or find some way to add a pdf generator feature in the case that the main driver fails, its called fault tolerance, give the consumer multiple output options.
