Features & Capabilities

SatFinder Lite lets you locate TV satellites in the sky with an AR view on iPhone or iPad. It uses your device sensors to compute the azimuth and elevation your satellite dish must face, overlaying satellite icons onto the real sky to aid alignment and LOS checks.

You can capture a screenshot of the AR view for quick reference, and the app provides LOS guidance to avoid obstacles like trees or buildings, helping you achieve a clear line of sight to the satellite.

User Reviews

Users rely on SatFinder Lite to quickly locate satellites for RV setups and value its offline field usefulness. However, reliability is repeatedly undermined by iOS compatibility crashes, satellites not showing or being inaccurate, and a perceived lack of developer support and data updates. UI glitches and outdated satellite data further frustrate users. Overall, the app’s core utility is acknowledged when it works, but consistency and active maintenance are major concerns.
Pros
  • Helps RV users quickly locate and line up satellite signals for setups, saving time and frustration.
  • Works in the field even without cellular service, using the device’s compass and satellite data.
  • Long-standing tool used by many reviewers for years, indicating proven utility when functioning.
  • When functioning after updates, makes it easy to identify satellites and directions (e.g., common satellites like 110/119/129).
Cons
  • Major compatibility issues and crashes after iOS updates on multiple devices (e.g., iPhone 8 Plus, iPhone 12 Pro, iPhone 6s).
  • Satellites sometimes don’t appear, disappear, or are inaccurately located, making the app unreliable.
  • Perceived abandonment by developers with little response to problem reports and few timely fixes.
  • UI and data problems such as overlapping satellite names in the list and out-of-date or missing satellite data.

On my iPhone 12 when I click on satellite list I have a mess. All the satellite names and locations are on top of one another. I can not check mark the correct satellite I am looking for. This app has worked great for years but the last several months this has been an aggravating issue. I assume it is compatibility issue with my phone that needs addressed by developer.

Since the IOS update this APP is not working

I have been using this app for a long time. I camp in my motorhome and it helps me figure out if my roof mounted satellite dish will receive a signal. I have Dish Network so I use the app to find the 110, 119 & 129 degree satellites. If those are blocked, sometimes I can use the 61.5 degree satellite.
