It offers a 14-day free trial and, after that, a $24.99/year auto-renewing subscription for ongoing access and continuous content updates. User Reviews

FP Notebook is widely praised as a concise, current, and reliable pocket reference used by NPs, PAs, and physicians. It is valued for its quick access to organized, evidence-based content and overall cost-effectiveness. However, many reviews converge on concerns about the pricing shift—from a free/older model to a subscription—without clear notice, plus transparency issues about billing. Reliability issues like freezing or crashes also surface. Despite these, most users still consider it an essential, cost-efficient resource when compared with alternatives.
Pros
  • Concise, well-organized pocket reference with a clear structure (etiologies, differential, workup, treatment)
  • Up-to-date, accurate, and well-sourced medical content that is maintained over time
  • Easy to use, fast, and widely used as a go-to reference in clinical practice
  • Strong value for money; many users call it a steal and compare favorably to pricier alternatives
  • Longstanding utility across professions (NPs, PAs, physicians) and across devices (iPhone, Mac)
Cons
  • Abrupt, opaque subscription change with little notice and no grandfathering for long-time users
  • Transparency issues around billing and trial terms (no clear indication of a purchase; misleading free-trial messaging)
  • Reliability/stability problems (freezing, crashes, or the app failing to load on updates)
  • Some users feel the pricing/changes undermine trust and push them to seek alternatives

Not the best reference- not accurate by FDA dosing guidelines. Horrible resource

I paid for the app before it was subscription. Then, the developer forced a subscription without notice. This is shady and theft of my original purchase which was advertised as access to data via the iPhone app. I should receive a refund. I don’t care the website is free still. I paid for the app to pull the data from the site for convenience. All users who paid for the app originally should be grandfathered in without this subscription.
