WHY ONOMATOPOEIA? Onomatopoeic words, the playful sounds we use to imitate animals, vehicles, and the world around us, are among the very first words every child learns, in every language. They bridge sound and meaning in a way ordinary vocabulary can't: when a child says "moo," they're not just labeling a cow, they're hearing it.
