User Reviews

Reviewers largely report reliability problems with WeatherTAP’s iOS app. The most recurring issues are repeated login prompts and failures, radar data loading freezes, and general performance instability. Several accounts point to iOS version compatibility gaps and satellite/radar loading problems as features break after updates. While some users note the design and radar features show promise and that the data can be strong when the app works, stability issues overshadow the experience. Subscription terms and privacy-related frustrations add to the dissatisfaction.
Pros
  • When it works, the app delivers great radar/weather data and performance.
  • The app shows promise with a solid design and radar-related features.
  • Long-time WeatherTAP users see potential in the service and value it when functioning properly.
Cons
  • Frequent login issues and persistent sign-in prompts, sometimes preventing access.
  • Radar loading problems: radar data freezes, images fail to load, or radar doesn’t display correctly.
  • General performance instability on iOS: slow loads, lockups, glitches, and crashes.
  • Low compatibility with and slow updates for newer iOS versions, with features like satellite loading being affected.
  • Subscription/pricing concerns and perceived privacy issues, including confusing login/auto-sign-in behavior.

I have been trying to change the default settings for the radar tab and after I change them and click on save, it just diverts back to the original settings and won’t save. I have even deleted and reinstalled the app. On my android phone it works as it should.

I have used WeatherTap for several years and was happy. Three years ago, I started attempting its use on an iPhone - frustrated would be a mild description with mobile performance: loading issues, lockups, speed, and horribly inconsistent performance. I quit and did not renew last year and have been using RadarSc@@@ instead. It actually works on laptop & mobile with no issues.

App looks promising and when it works it’s great. However it will drop your location and go find a new one? Takes forever to load, after multiple attempts went with another app.
