Features & Capabilities

Meditation Time 2.0 is a beautiful Chrome meditation timer that uses singing bowls and instruments to mark the end of your session. It also offers interval mindfulness chimes, soothing nature sounds as background, and a library of guided meditations from professional speakers. Master Mode allows up to 4 hours of meditation, and Zen Mode ends with three chimes to gently finish your practice.

Beyond timing, the extension embraces mindfulness principles like MBSR, helping beginners and seasoned meditators alike integrate calm into daily life. With optional HealthKit syncing, you can track completed sessions in Apple Health while controlling permissions.

User Reviews

Users praise Meditation Time 2.0 for its simple, distraction-free design, easy daily use, customizable sounds, and strong privacy. It’s a trusted timer many have used for years. However, several reviews note reliability issues: the end bell may not ring when the screen sleeps, and gong/tap responses can be delayed or the timer may fail to start after tapping. Despite these flaws, it remains a widely loved, ad-free option for meditators seeking a straightforward timer with mindful tones.
Pros
  • Simple, minimalist design with just enough features and no distractions.
  • Easy to use and reliable for daily meditation.
  • Wide customization options for sounds, timing, and brightness.
  • Privacy-focused: no data collection and no intrusive permissions.
  • Long-standing, trusted timer that many users have used for years.
Cons
  • End bell or timer not finishing when the screen goes off (screen sleep).
  • Gong/tap responsiveness is inconsistent: delayed responses or taps not starting the timer.

Nice simple app not trying to do more than it needs, like gathering personal data.

Simple design for your practice. Clear and confident. Maybe they could have a random gong interval range during a sit, so you loosely set the parameters but don’t actually know when the gong will go off. Just a wish. This app has been really good for my practice.
