User Reviews

Users praise GPS Navigation Offline for its simple interface and reliable pinning of locations, even offline. The main complaints center on the switch to a costly subscription model, loss of lifetime purchases, and frequent nagging prompts. Some reports mention updates that lock features or erase purchases, though support has sometimes resolved issues. Overall, core functionality is valued, but the pricing model is the dominant concern for long-time users.
Pros
  • Easy to learn and use with a simple, intuitive interface.
  • Reliable pinning/saving of locations (parking spots, anchors) to return to the starting point.
  • Works offline and can guide you back without internet.
  • Responsive, helpful developer and solid customer support.
  • Longstanding, trusted app with years of consistent performance.
Cons
  • High ongoing subscription cost (about $24.99/year) with few lifetime options.
  • Loss of previously purchased lifetime features or invalidation after subscription.
  • Nag screens and prompts to pay, interrupting use.
  • Updates that lock previously unlocked features or remove them for paying users.
  • Occasional loss of access/purchases after app updates (support helps restore in some cases).
Recent reviews
I’ve had this app since 2015 (when it was named something-Anchor!) and it has become my yearly go-to for my hiking trips. I have many campsites and important locations saved. The compass and distance features work amazing, even without cell service while in the forest - as long as you have GPS. I can also share my saved locations with my brothers so they can find me. Recently, the app underwent some changes and had a subscription model introduced. This caused issues with adding additional locations, which is a huge bummer. However, I reached out to the developer and they helped me restore full access. Thank you! I’m looking forward to using the app even more.

I really like this app and have used it for years. But this new pricing, requiring an ongoing subscription at $24.99/year seems kind of expensive. I wish a reasonable one time fee was available. Very useful for finding you way back to where you were when you set an anchor. No other app I’ve found is quite like it! The developer is quite responsive and helpful too.
