Features & Capabilities

MelodyLab is a creative music studio Chrome extension that lets you record yourself playing an instrument or singing, then add more recordings to build your own song. Re-record frames, adjust volumes, and preview your project before exporting.

When finished, export the video to your photo album and share it with friends. Tips: in Settings, choose your camera and microphone, adjust video quality, and always use earphones to minimize feedback. You can also start with an existing video from your album to collaborate with other musicians.

User Reviews

Users praise MelodyLab for its simple, fun interface and suitability for quick, casual projects and teaching. However, persistent lag and mis-timing when layering multiple voices, frequent crashes especially on export, and lack of Bluetooth audio support are common complaints. Additional issues include the inability to re-record a single window and limited volume controls on larger layouts. Overall, it’s a lightweight, easy-to-use tool with notable stability and audio-routing drawbacks that affect multi-track work.
Pros
  • Easy to use with a simple, intuitive interface.
  • Fun for quick, casual music projects and practice.
  • Good for beginners and classroom use due to straightforward workflow.
  • Supports layering and harmonizing, letting users sing along to other recordings.
  • Feels like a lightweight alternative to GarageBand with a simpler setup.
Cons
  • Lag and timing issues when adding multiple voices/tracks, causing off-sync playback.
  • Crashes during playback or export, with export-to-camera-roll failures reported.
  • No Bluetooth headphone/mic support and limited audio routing options.
  • Cannot re-record a single window; you must restart the entire track.
  • Limited volume controls on larger layouts (3x3+), and some missing audio controls.

It used to work but now it lags

This app used to be a favorite of mine before the timing started to mess up. You can create the first voice no issues but the timing of the second or third voice is always off sync. Needs an update to fix this. I prefer and would much rather use this platform over garage band bc of how simple it is. Please fix.

This app use to be really good but now it lags when you record your second part with another video square. I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled and it does the same thing. I just uninstalled it again, and this time it’s for good. Give us another studio app plz.
