Features & Capabilities

Salesforce Authenticator adds an extra layer of security for your online accounts with multi-factor authentication. It sends push notifications to your device, and you approve or deny the login with a tap. It also supports time-based one-time passwords (TOTP) for offline use and can automatically approve trusted activities based on your device’s location (geofence).

Privacy-conscious by design, the app stores location data only on your device and never in the cloud. If you enable location-based automation, Salesforce does not track or share your location. You can delete location data or turn off location services. To conserve battery, the app uses geofence-based updates and you can disable location services to reduce usage.

User Reviews

Reviews are mixed. A subset of users find Salesforce Authenticator reliable and easy for MFA, with some noting no lag and years of use. However, many others report persistent reliability issues, slow performance, and confusing UX, including unclear prompts and forced location/push requirements. The result is a divided perception: the app can streamline MFA when it works, but reliability and usability gaps cause frustration and inconsistent experiences across devices and environments.
Pros
  • Generally reliable for Salesforce MFA and often works with little lag
  • Easy-to-use MFA experience when functioning (quick authentication)
  • Long-term users report durability and periods of reliable operation over years
Cons
  • Unreliable/buggy with frequent bugs, slow performance, and inconsistent results
  • Confusing UX and prompts; unclear when and how you will be prompted
  • Location services and push notifications required or frequently malfunction, creating friction
  • Push/approval pop-ups often fail and force manual codes or alternative methods

This is an old app, and it looks and feels that way too. Absolutely terrible. I have to manually input the code every time which is a pain. This is supposed to make life easier. Not harder. Salesforce, you’ve failed with this app. You’ve failed hard. You buy reviews because you’re a bad company. This app doesn’t have the 4 star rating, that’s a lie and you know it. Apple needs to be investigated for allowing this to continue.

Expect to be on Salesforce 5-10 minutes after logging in. This app is buggy and quite useless
