Disregard the other comment. I have verified it definitely measures acceleration like similar apps. Detects XYZ motion but also gives the best visual indication I have seen for orientation to earths gravity field showing the acceleration field of the earth itself. It’s a pretty useful tool for a quick analysis. Does include ads

This shows the phone’s orientation, not its acceleration.

It depends on what measurements you need. This app measures linear acceleration. The Sensor Kinetics app is much better. Could use resultant acceleration as well.
