User Reviews

Reviewers praise Settle Up for fast expense entry, solid group-splitting features (multi-currency support and weighted contributions) and handy sharing, making trips easier and less stressful. Core functions are accessible without heavy paywalls. However, recurring complaints focus on ads and paywalls, a UI that can feel dated or non-intuitive after updates, setup and syncing headaches, and debt visibility issues in the free tier. Some users also feel pricing is high for what remains behind the paywall. Overall, it’s capable but experience varies with updates and pricing.
Pros
  • Fast, painless expense entry (tap the payer’s name to add an expense).
  • Robust group-splitting features: tax/tip handling, receipts, multi-currency, and weighted contributions.
  • No heavy paywall for core features like exporting transactions and unlimited transactions.
  • Great for trips and group activities; reduces stress and math in settling debts.
  • Easy sharing of expenses with people who don’t have the app.
Cons
  • Ads in the free version and paywalls locking many features, plus perceived high cost for premium features.
  • Clunky, dated UI after updates; not intuitive and feels engineer-built.
  • Setup and syncing friction: slow to add people, invites/scans sometimes fail, login issues after updates.
  • Debt visibility is unclear in the free version (net debt summaries hide who owes whom).
  • Platform parity and inconsistency concerns (notes of Android-era features vs iOS updates; uneven experience across platforms).

I find settling up quite easy and this app makes it much more complicated. If you like that sort of thing, or don’t trust your own mathematics, then you might find it useful. It was not for me, but I can see how others might think differently.

Super practica app, ayuda a viajes felices
by Lv*****, 2026-04-27

I’ve been using this app for a while due to it having better privacy policies than other group expense apps and had no problems; I’d rate it 4/5 stars. Last night, I got an “ad” that was a “security review required”. Super scammy/phishy. I’ve reported to the dev but am having difficulty appreciating having that sort of thing introduced to my phone in lieu of subscribing to the app. Now it is a 1/5 star app and I’m looking at alternatives pending the dev’s response.
