I bought this app a long time ago as it was basically the only app of its kind on iOS. Took a long break from Magic, came back and now it has a subscription model. It shafts the people who purchase the app previously. In a situation like this, it would have been better to sunset the app and make a new one with the subscription model. I can’t even look up card arts via previous sets. There had to be a better way to go about doing this.

I paid $6.99 for this app in November 2025. Later, the developer switched to a monthly subscription model and converted my previous purchase into monthly credits. The problem? Those credits apparently started ticking down whether I was using the app or not. I hadn’t opened the app in months, so by the time I came back, the value they substituted for my purchase had been disappearing simply because time had passed. How was I supposed to know I needed to keep checking an app I’d already paid for to make sure my purchase hadn’t effectively been put on an expiration timer? I understand developers change their pricing models. Charge new customers whatever subscription price you want. But retroactively converting an existing customer’s paid purchase into credits that expire over time is a terrible way to treat people who supported your app early on. I have the Apple receipt showing my $6.99 purchase on November 29, 2025. Very disappointing. I paid for the app. I expected that purchase to be honored, not quietly converted into a countdown.
