Features & Capabilities

NoteWorks is a musical game, designed to teach note recognition and improve sight reading skills. Hungry Munchy is eager to swallow elusive blue notes. Your goal is to help Munchy catch each note as quickly as possible.

The game combines learning and fun into a single gratifying experience. The app is both educational and entertaining, with an intuitive and visually appealing interface.

NoteWorks was created for: • iPhone, iPod touch and iPad users. • Players of all ages. • Families with multiple players. • Music teachers with multiple students.

Game design features include: • A funny animated character. • User-friendly menus. • Superb graphics. • Engaging sound effects.

Note reading options: • On-screen piano keyboard input. • On-screen guitar fretboard input. • MIDI keyboard input. • "A, B, C" note naming. . . . CDEFGAB . . . CDEFGAH . . . ABCDEFG . . . AHCDEFG • "Do, Re, Mi" (Fixed Do) note naming. • Treble clef.

Educational features: • Students learn by playing and having fun. • Students can choose to play with hints. • Students play without hints to earn points and stars. • Players learn to recognize notes instantly, on sight. • Game speed is controlled to increase or decrease difficulty, or students may choose to play without any time limit.

While music teachers persistently stress the importance of sight reading, most teachers prefer not to spend valuable lesson time on basic note recognition skills. Thus, NoteWorks helps music teachers concentrate on more interesting aspects of their art, such as technique and musicality.

NoteWorks was created for people who like to learn by playing and having fun. It was designed with the objective of neither being too easy nor too hard, and never boring. We hope you'll find NoteWorks both useful and entertaining, and we would greatly appreciate it if you could share your thoughts and opinions about the game by rating it.

User Reviews

NoteWorks Lite is praised for being engaging and educational, especially for sight-reading, with kids and teachers enjoying its classroom-friendly design and visuals. However, recurring issues include payment/download problems and limited support for accessing the full version, regional restrictions, a very limited free tier, per-device licensing, and content gaps (bass/treble clefs, keyboard support). Overall, it has strong educational potential and appeal, but upgrade difficulties and reliability barriers significantly affect user experience.
Pros
  • Engaging and fun for students; kids enjoy the visuals and gameplay.
  • Strong educational value, especially for sight-reading and note identification.
  • Classroom-friendly use and real-world compatibility (works with instruments like Yamaha Clavinova).
  • Easy to use and intuitive gameplay that beginners can pick up quickly.
  • Broad age appeal and positive reception from both students and teachers.
Cons
  • Full version access often problematic: payment/download failures and reported lack of developer response.
  • Regional availability restrictions block purchasing the full version in some locales (e.g., US-related restrictions).
  • Free version is very limited (only level 1) and missing core features needed for learning.
  • Per-device licensing forces paying for the full version on each device, which many users dislike.
  • Content/feature gaps and errors: incorrect treble-clef notes, missing bass-clef, and limited keyboard support in practice.

The app is okay but the $4 is not good because I already paid for the app and I did try to buy the extended version and it did not install like it was frozen or something I do not like that!! And it is glitchy for me!

We paid for the $4.99 version of this app. It started to download to my phone then stopped. When I try to download again they say I must pay. I already paid and never got to use the app I paid for. I contacted the developer twice through their website and no one has responded to me. It has been 3 weeks and my son just wants to use what we paid for. The lite version isn’t enough. I have put about an hour of my time trying to get help from apple and DoReMi Atazi (developer) and am getting no where. Do not purchase this app until they resolve my issue otherwise you may get ripped off too. I will gladly remove this negative review once someone from this shady company actually responds to me.
