User Reviews

Ensemble Composer is praised as a powerful, unique drumline composer with strong export options (sheet music and audio) and an easy GUI, valued by students and educators. However, multiple reviews cite post-update audio degradation and tuning changes, timing glitches and choppiness, and persistent saving/export problems (missing files, duplicates, export format issues). Backup/transfer concerns and occasional feature bugs also surface. Overall, the tool's concept and usefulness are clear, but stability and audio fidelity must be improved to match the fanbase's expectations.
Pros
  • Powerful, feature-rich drumline composition tool with a niche appeal
  • Strong export options for sheet music and audio, including compatibility with Medly and MuseScore
  • Easy-to-use GUI that makes composing, splitting parts, and practicing accessible
  • Widely valued for education, practice, and performance prep; substantial ongoing utility
Cons
  • Post-update sound quality and tuning degradation across parts (snares, bass, cymbals) and overall audio feel
  • Rhythmic timing issues and choppiness: parts not staying tight, faster rhythms not sounding together
  • Saving/exporting bugs: new cadences not saving, files disappearing/duplicating, and export format inconsistencies (XML vs MXl)
  • Reliability/backup concerns: legacy files inaccessible and no built-in cloud/device transfer (iCloud)

Hello again , I had already submitted a review while back with that long long statement about the new sounds . Please take consideration of how beautiful and real the snares especially sounded before you updated them to the new audio engine. It was such a good and strong sound from them ! Please take it into consideration !!! Maybe make more sound choice options !

Before, the update prevented me from opening my older files, I couldn’t hear anything unless I had head phones in and everything became janky. Now, all of those issues are gone! This app is awesome and I’m glad you’re keeping it in good condition! -my last request is to simply revert the sound of the snares. They lost the amazing tune sound they had. If there’s an option to revert, please make it available!
