User Reviews

Libib is strong for fast barcode scanning and multi-type cataloging (books, media, games) with a clean UI and useful manual-entry/notes. The free version is a plus. Common downsides across reviews are unreliable barcode recognition, data loss after updates, occasional freezes, and awkward photo-upload steps. Users also cite UI regressions and limited filtering/search options after updates. Overall, it’s a solid home-library tool with ongoing improvement, but stability and feature-completeness are cited as needed improvements.
Pros
  • Fast barcode scanning and quick cataloging for large collections
  • Easy cross-media cataloging: books, CDs, DVDs, and games in one library
  • Notes feature and manual-entry options for non-barcoded items
  • Visually improved UI with cover images in list view and intuitive design
  • Free version provides substantial functionality for home inventories
Cons
  • Barcode scanning is not always reliable and often requires manual entry
  • Updates can cause data loss or removal of collections (regression)
  • Stability issues like freezes or crashes during use
  • Photo add workflow is clunky (no easy direct add from camera, no zoom, extra cropping/upload steps)
  • UI/UX regressions after updates and limited filtering/search features (navigation quirks, missing savable filters)

The scanner made it so easy and so did the manual barcode entry. All my books are finally cataloged and I know what I have so when I buy more books I’m not rebuying the same book which I’ve almost did a couple times.

I love this app and have been using it for my personal library for years. I used to manage a huge spreadsheet of all the different books and genres that I own, but Libib makes it easy to just scan an ISBN barcode and automatically add to the category of your choosing. The one change I’d like is to have a feature for noting what books you’ve lent out, like a library. I’ve lent books to friends and family over the years and it would be nice to track which books are where through the Libib app. Otherwise, a perfect app for cataloging your own library!

Almost a perfect book app. I just wish they had features that would let you track books and movies you’ve read/watched but don’t own. Or a tbr/ tbw list
