The Yabla video player features translations by native speakers fluent in both languages. The meaning of words and phrases is reflective of the dialect and culture in the video. Yabla has no automatically generated translations. We give users accurate and context-specific meanings.

Yabla features loop and pitch-corrected slow down options, for users to learn the material at their own pace. Users may take time to review phrases or words of difficulty, as well as go over them multiple times during a session.

Click on difficult words to look them up in our multisource dictionary and add them for later review. Practice them in the flashcard exercise, available via our web app. Flashcard review helps to memorize new vocabulary.

This App contains a limited selection of free language learning videos. Full access requires a purchased subscription. Subscriptions are available as a one-time payment, or as an auto-renewing subscription.

Recent reviews

Controls are very hardly placed. Slow and Loop are at bottom of screen, video play pause and back/forward are mid-screen, and the “close” button after clicking on a word is at very top of screen. I’d recommend moving controls to bottom of screen so they’re easier to press while holding phone in hand. Thanks for considering. Also, watched videos don’t sync between Computer and iOS versions. Please fix. Is there an easier way to access flash cards? Does the app even have flash cards…

I am seeing stills, not continuous video. And using "loop" command is not properly looping the segments.

Yabla has become my favorite way to learn Spanish over the last couple of years. Everything is video based, which makes me feel more involved than other systems, and the price for the anual subscription (linked on their website) is better than for most of the competitors. I use both the app and the browser version, each offering a few benefits over the other, but it is easy enough to switch back and forth. The key concept here is that you can interactively watch and rewatch videos of different sorts, with exercises in listening, speaking and recalling the various sentences. There are also vocab exercises and discussion forums for each video, often with staff chiming in to answer questions. Videos include custom Yabla content, music videos, TV shows and ads. I particularly enjoyed going through much of the Columbian version of The Wonder Years in bite sized pieces. The content is engaging and the repetition key to driving home the grammar until it sticks. Support is also awesome.
