Polaris Office is seen as a capable Word-like suite with solid core editing and format support, including Undo/Redo and search. However, widespread ads, reliability problems, accessibility/UI shortcomings, and limited support for advanced document types heavily color user sentiment. An ad-free option exists, but overall experience varies—productive for some, frustrating for others due to crashes, interruptions, and navigation issues.

Pros

Undo/Redo and built-in search improve editing efficiency.
Strong Word-like alternative with a widely used feature set.
Solid core office features available for free (with ads) and options to pay for more.
Good file compatibility (works with doc/docx and can handle other formats like hwp).
Ad-removal option provides a smoother, ad-free experience when purchased.

Cons

Intrusive ads and pop-ups disrupt workflow (including video ads).
Stability issues: hangs, crashes, and recovery-file loops risking lost work.
Accessibility and UI issues: poor VoiceOver support, unlabeled controls, cluttered interface, and lack of dark mode.
Limited editing support for advanced file types (e.g., pivot tables in Excel) and some spreadsheets.

Recent reviews

Long time user except much less frequent these days. At least 10 year user BUT innovation of features are much less frequent compared to in the past. This only tells me to look into a better “bang-for-the-buck” solution for productivity apps that meet today’s efficiency needs of today and for tomorrow.

This is my honest review, no fluff. I find this app to be very cluttered and ocasionally pretty buggy. I made a text file and saved it to my location of choice, but I opened the file later and nothing was in it. Could've been user error, but at that point an app should just work as expected. Not only that, it's terrible to navigate around with VoiceOver, Apple's screen reader for the blind and low vision. Buttons and UI elements are poorly labeled. No dark mode either? I don't know how people use this app. Deleted shortly after downloading.
