User Reviews

Reviews consistently praise Doom and Destiny for its old-school RPG vibe, witty humor, and charm, and many find it worth the price with strong replay value. However, persistent control issues, lack of controller support, no cloud saves, and progress-blocking bugs are the most-mentioned drawbacks. Despite these, it remains a beloved retro RPG choice for fans who enjoy humor, character, and a nostalgic feel.
Pros
  • Old-school pixel RPG vibe with witty humor and charming characters.
  • Humor and clever parodies that make the game entertaining.
  • Good value for money; many say it's worth the price and enjoy the sequels.
  • Engaging, colorful characters and a creative take; easy to get into.
  • Long playtime and replay value for retro RPG fans.
Cons
  • Terrible touch controls / inconsistent input that makes the game hard to play.
  • No controller support, which limits play options on some devices.
  • No cloud saves and a risk of permanent data loss on deletion.
  • Progress-blocking bugs and occasional points where you can't advance (e.g., arena bug, tutorial lockups).

Got because it’s on sale based on my experience with the very fun Nerd Survivors. Even wrote the developers a fan letter. Something I almost never do. That said, this has to be the single worst touch control experience I’ve ever had bar none. I’ll continue to try what I’ve learned, but it’s been inordinately hard. Actually touching icons doesn’t work. It’s incredible to me this hasn’t been updated after all this time. Despite what I’ve read online there appears to be no controller support at all. The App Store itself often fails to mention when it is. Disappointing. Makes me skeptical of the whole catalog. Edit: No cloud saves. Deletion permanent. Will request a refund when possible even at $1. Lost time never to be used again.
