CoinTrail: Identify Coins

Piggy bank, kitchen drawer, holiday wallet: somewhere there's a coin worth more than it says. Snap it, see its value, keep it as a sticker. Honest, no fantasy prices.

Somewhere in your home there are coins. In the piggy bank, in a drawer, in the wallet from your last trip. Hardly anyone knows what they are worth. CoinTrail tells you in a second.

TAKE A PHOTO, DONE Point the camera at the coin and CoinTrail recognizes country, face value, year and mint mark. For 2-euro coins it also recognizes the design: one of the 580+ commemorative coins issued since 2004, or the regular coin? No prior knowledge needed, the app explains every term.

HONEST VALUES Most coins are worth exactly what is printed on them. We tell you that, too. No fantasy prices, no “minting error worth 5,000 €”. Where a coin is worth more, CoinTrail shows a guide value based on mintage and condition, and tells you where the number comes from. Data from the European Central Bank and the Bundesbank, checked by hand.

YOUR ALBUM Every recognized coin becomes a sticker in your album, cut out, with front and back as a rotatable 3D coin. Your own country always comes first. Scanned the same coin twice? CoinTrail notices and counts it up.

CHECKLIST AND COIN SETS All 2-euro commemorative coins from every euro country as a checklist: what you have, what you are missing, which ones are rare. Plus the coin set of every country, from 1 cent to 2 euro. Brought a coin back from your holiday? Add it.

FOR EVERYONE, NOT JUST COLLECTORS CoinTrail is built for people who have never held a coin catalog. Condition here means “circulated” or “uncirculated”, not grading codes. If you want the details, mints, mintages and sources are one tap away.

OTHER COINS TOO Deutsche Mark, schilling, francs, dollars, old coins from grandpa's collection: CoinTrail recognizes them and adds background and a guide value.
