Tara Scan: PDF & OCR

Tara Scan turns paper into clean, searchable PDFs — and keeps every page on your phone.

Point the camera at a document: the edges are found automatically, the page is cropped and straightened, and you can keep scanning page after page. Text recognition runs right on the device, so your contracts, receipts and notes never go to a server.

SCAN • Automatic edge detection with crop and perspective correction • Dedicated modes for ID cards, driving licences and passports (front and back on one page) • Multi-page documents in a single scan session • Import from your photo library with automatic document detection • Reorder, rotate and delete pages at any time

CLEAN UP • Filters: Original, No Shadow, Vivid, Lighten, Gray and Black & White • Black & White uses an adaptive threshold, so shadows across the page disappear instead of turning into grey patches

RECOGNISE TEXT • On-device text recognition (OCR) — works offline • Copy or share the recognised text in one tap • Powered by Google ML Kit, running on your device

TOOLS • Merge documents into a single PDF • Add a signature to a page • Add a watermark • Extract text from an image

EXPORT • Searchable PDF: the page looks exactly like the scan, with an invisible text layer so you can search, select and copy text in any PDF viewer • Image-only PDF when you just need the picture • Plain text (.txt)

ORGANISE • Library with folders • Rename, move and delete documents • Search by title and by the text inside your documents • Dark theme (Light / Dark / System)

PRIVATE BY DESIGN • Everything happens on your device • No account, no sign-in • No ads, no analytics, no tracking • No servers — a document leaves your phone only when you share it • The camera is used only for scanning; photos are read only through the system picker, and only the ones you choose

FREE No subscription and no in-app purchases. No forced watermark on your exports.

Available in English, Turkish, Simplified Chinese, Hindi, Spanish, Arabic and French.
