Zill - Sun & Shade

Find the shade before you park, now on iPad too - and Zill Pro removes every ad.

Zill shows the sun's exact path wherever you are, and the shade that comes with it.

Plan where to park so your car stays cool, see the shadows of any hour through your camera, and know when the light comes and goes all year. Everything is computed on your phone with the NREL Solar Position Algorithm, corrected for your altitude and the live weather.

THE SUN, PRECISELY

• Sunrise, sunset, solar noon, golden hour, blue hour and twilight for any place and any day
• The sun's direction and height at any moment, on a live sky arc and a compass
• The real sunrise and sunset behind hills, from the terrain horizon
• Sky quality: how colorful sunrise and sunset will be, from the forecast clouds
• Shadow length for any object, and a sun map you can share as a link

PARK IN THE SHADE

• Save the places you park. Zill brings in the buildings, trees and walls around them from OpenStreetMap
• See when the shade reaches your car and when the sun finds it
• The best spot and heading for your car during your stay
• A cabin heat estimate and a windshield and window cover plan
• A sun alert before the sun reaches your car

SHADOW LENS

• Point your camera anywhere and see the shadows of any hour, on any day of the year
• Place cars, people, poles, walls and trees, or trace real objects, and watch their shadows move
• Hours of sun on the ground, the best shaded spot and a sunshade designer
• Compare two times, save scenes, and share photos and time-lapse videos

SHADE MAP, 3D AND VR

• A top-down shade planner with hours of direct sun
• Your street in lifelike 3D at any hour of any day: the real sky from sunrise to a moonlit or starry night, the buildings, trees and streets around you, and lit windows and street lamps after dark
• The exact shadow outline from Zill's shade calculation, drawn over the 3D view
• Tap any spot to see when it has sun and shade today and what shades it, then park there or look around from it
• A VR view for a headset
