Saying it was loud is easy to dismiss. A document that says how many decibels, at what time, for how long, is not. Noise Meter measures everyday noise in decibels, records it, and turns every session into a one page measurement report you can hand in.

[While you measure]

• A live waveform and gauge show how loud it is right now.
• Peak level (Lmax) and 1 minute and 5 minute equivalent levels are calculated as you record.
• Day limits (06:00 to 22:00) and night limits (22:00 to 06:00) are applied automatically. Night is 5dB stricter.
• Tap a source button the moment you hear it (footsteps, dragged furniture, a dropped object) and it is marked at that exact point.
• Recording keeps running with the screen off.

[Calibration that fits your phone] Microphone sensitivity differs by device. One 10 second calibration gets your numbers right, and the offset used is printed on the report so whoever reads it knows the conditions.

• Time, day or night band, place and device in the overview.
• Measured values next to the limits, with a clear over or within verdict.
• A SHA-256 hash of the audio file, so you can show the file was not altered.
• Export to PDF and the share sheet opens. Mail it, print it or save it.
