Hot Potato is the classic party game, reborn as an app. Gather everyone in a circle, hit Start, and pass something around while a goofy tune plays. The tune speeds up. Nobody knows exactly when the alarm will blow. Whoever is holding it when it goes off gets burned, and then the dare card comes up.

PASS ANYTHING YOU LIKE

• The phone is just the timer. Set it down in the middle and pass a ball, a stuffed animal, a rolled-up sock, or a real potato.
• Or pass the phone itself, if that is easier.
• Want the app to track who has it? Turn on Phone is the potato and tap the screen each time you catch it.

HOW IT PLAYS

• Hit Start and keep passing until the alarm goes off.
• The round length is random inside a range you set, so it is a nail-biter every time.
• Get caught holding it and your potato takes a strike on the scoreboard.

MAKE IT YOURS

• Pick from 27 goofy potato characters, one for each player: a kitty, a pirate, a chef, a unicorn, a sleepy spud, and more.
• Choose a tune: goofy, circus, spooky, 8-bit, or elevator. Pick an alarm: siren, air horn, chicken, or buzzer. Or let each round surprise you.

GAME MODES

• Dares: whoever gets burned draws a dare card. Two built-in decks, plus room to write your own.
• Elimination: three strikes and you are out. Last potato standing wins, with a crown and confetti.
• Fake-outs: the tune sometimes stutters and goes quiet for a beat. Everyone flinches.
• Phone is the potato: pass the phone itself and tap the screen as you catch it. The app tracks who is holding it and burns them automatically.
