Wordkeep: Daily English Words

Wordkeep gives you a few English words a day — the ones just past what you already know.

It starts by finding your level. A ninety-second test shows you words and asks which you know. Salted through it are words that do not exist. Nobody can know those, so what you claim about them measures how much you are guessing, and that gets subtracted out. The result is an estimate of how many words you know, and a starting level that is honest rather than flattering.

After that, the words you see sit one band above your own. Not words you already know. Not words years out of reach.

WHAT A DAY LOOKS LIKE Three, five or ten words — you choose. Swipe up through them like a feed. Tap to hear a word read aloud. Pull up the examples to see it used in real sentences. Mark it known and it never comes back; save it and it waits in your list.

THERE IS NO ACCOUNT No sign-up, no email, no password. Nothing you do is uploaded, because there is nowhere to upload it to — Wordkeep has no server. Your progress lives on your device and is deleted when you delete the app.
