TRANSCRIBED ON YOUR DEVICE Transcription uses Apple's speech recognition and runs entirely on your device. Neither your recordings nor your transcripts are ever sent to a server.

RECORDING • A large elapsed-time display, with pause, resume and discard • When you stop, choose to transcribe now, transcribe later, or delete • If the microphone picked up nothing, you are told straight away

TRANSCRIPTS • The full text in a clean, readable view, with adjustable text size • Fix misheard words in place • Transcribe again in a different language • Search titles and transcripts, and sort by date or length

PLAYBACK Skip back or forward 10 seconds, and choose from seven speeds between 0.5× and 2×.

RECORD FROM APPLE WATCH Start a recording from your wrist. While recording, the watch shows only the date and a small timer, so it stays discreet. The recording is sent to your iPhone and transcribed there.

IMPORT FROM OTHER APPS Share audio from Voice Memos, or open it from the Files app, to import and transcribe it. For video files, only the audio track is used.

IPAD On iPad, your recordings and the transcript sit side by side.

ICLOUD SYNC (OPTIONAL) Share transcripts and prompts between your iPhone and iPad signed in to the same Apple Account. Audio is not synced. Off by default.

LANGUAGES Transcription works in the languages supported by Apple's on-device speech recognition, including English and Japanese. Each language model is downloaded from Apple the first time you use it (an internet connection is required). The app is available in English, Japanese, Korean, Chinese (Simplified and Traditional), German, French, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese (Brazil), Dutch, Polish, Turkish and Russian.

ABOUT ADS KoeOkoshi is free and supported by a banner ad. Watch a short video ad to the end and the banner is hidden for the rest of the day.

GOOD TO KNOW • Transcription requires iOS 26 or later. On iOS 18 you can record, play back and import, but not transcribe. • Apple's speech recognition may not be available on every device or in every region. • No account and no sign-in. • Accuracy depends on the recording conditions and how clearly people speak.
