Telling Time: Clock Professor

Move the hands with a finger and learn to read a clock. There is no advertising.

■ Two rings, counted differently

A clock face carries two rings. The blue ring counts 1 to 12. The red ring counts 0 to 59.

This app draws both of them, and gives each hand the color of the ring it reads. The blue hand reads the blue ring. The red hand reads the red ring. Nothing has to be converted in your head — no "it points at 8, so it means 40".

■ Five courses, in any order

Nothing is locked behind finishing the course before it. Every course has both "Look and Answer" and "Turn the Hands".

Before the courses there is "Have a go" — two rooms holding just the short hand, and just the long hand. No questions, and nothing to get wrong.

■ What this app will not do

・It never marks an answer wrong. No crosses, and nothing taken away. Try as often as you like ・There is no time limit ・There is no advertising, and no price is ever shown on the child's screen ・Anything that leaves the app, and anything to buy, sits behind a grown-up gate

Finish a round and your child gets a sticker. Fill a card and the picture hidden underneath comes into view.

■ Answers can be read in your own voice

Reading aloud uses the device voice. Record a handful of short words, and those parts are spoken in your voice instead. There is no need to record them all before it starts working — each one takes effect as soon as it is made. Recordings stay on the device and are never sent anywhere.

■ Eight languages

Japanese, English, Spanish, Portuguese, Turkish, Korean, Traditional Chinese and Simplified Chinese. The language of the child's screen is chosen in Settings.

■ What is free, and what is not

"Have a go" and the first two courses are free. One purchase, once, opens the other three courses, recording a parent's voice, and the record of what your child can already read.

There is nothing to pay every month.
