Berta: Car Service History

Photograph an invoice and Berta reads it for you. Then just ask: what has this car cost me this year? When was the last oil change? Every answer cites the receipt.

Berta is a digital service book for your car, motorcycle or camper van.

You photograph the invoice from the workshop, and Berta reads out the date, amount, odometer reading and workshop. Because the whole history is then structured, you can simply ask it questions: what has this car cost me this year? When was the last oil change? Every answer points back to the receipt it came from.

Other apps keep a list. Berta reads your receipts. Because every invoice is parsed and filed against the vehicle, you can question your own history in plain language, typed or spoken:

"What has this car cost me this year?" "When was the last oil change, and at what mileage?" "Has the timing belt been done yet?"

Every answer points back to the receipt it came from, so you can check it. Berta also answers general questions, such as what a warning light means.

REMINDERS AND TEST DATES

Berta calculates your test date from the registration date and country: the MOT, NCT, German HU, Austrian Pickerl and Swiss MFK, with a general interval elsewhere. Further reminders cover servicing, oil changes, seasonal tire changes and motorway vignettes for Austria and Switzerland.

SERVICE HISTORY AS A PDF

Berta generates an A4 PDF with a vehicle summary, odometer chart, fuel and tire data, the service history and receipt images. Authorized dealer or independent workshop makes no difference; what matters is that there are no gaps. If the paper service book is gone, you rebuild it from your first receipt. On sale, the whole file transfers to the new owner by code.

COSTS

The overview shows monthly spend, consumption, cost per kilometer and lifetime total. Costs can be categorized and set as recurring, such as insurance, vehicle tax or finance payments. Fuel and charging are logged by photo, keyboard or voice, in l/100km or MPG. Nearby fuel prices are shown in Germany.

TIRES

Summer and winter sets with size, brand, DOT code and status. The sidewall scan reads these off the tire; the tread depth figure is an estimate and needs checking by you.

MILEAGE LOG

Trips are recorded with date, destination, odometer reading and category — business, personal or commute. Trips lock 24 hours after the trip date; corrections stay visible, and a check value in the annual PDF shows the chain of entries is unbroken.

Please note: whether a mileage log is accepted for a tax claim is always the tax authority's decision. For a business mileage claim or a company car, check the requirements with your tax advisor first.

GARAGE AND PRIVACY

Cars, motorcycles and camper vans are kept separately, each with its own history and reminders. AI processing runs only with your consent, data can be exported, and the account deleted in-app.

BERTA PRO

Free covers two vehicles, 50 scans in month one and 15 a month after, plus 10 questions to Berta. Pro raises this to ten vehicles with unlimited scans and questions: EUR 4.99 a month or EUR 39.99 a year. Reminders, manual entries, the mileage log, tires and the resale PDF are unlimited on both.

Payment is charged to your iTunes account on confirmation of purchase. The subscription renews automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
