Vlog Camera is a camera you just point and shoot. At the end of the day, one tap turns what you shot into a 15–30 second vertical video. It's finished the moment it opens, so you can post it as is.

■ Shooting

Aim at whatever's in front of you and choose people or scenery. You get one suggestion for how to shoot it. Tap the suggestion and a moving example plays over the viewfinder — follow it, and the shot comes out looking like a vlog.

■ Putting the day together

Tap Make today's video. The app goes through everything you shot on this iPhone that day and builds a single video out of it.

• Anything you shot in the built-in Camera or another app counts too • Clips you shot sideways still end up in one vertical video • Screenshots and screen recordings are left out • Each video is named after wherever you spent the most of that day

■ Changing it, if you want to

When it gets it right, you're done. When it doesn't, you can fix it on the same screen.

All of it is free • What you shoot stays in a Vlog Camera album in Photos, and the on-screen guidance is never burned into the video • No counters, no warnings, nothing telling you off

One exception: to name a video after a place, we round the coordinates of wherever you spent the most of that day to roughly 100 m and send that single point to the iPhone's own mapping service, once. We take the name it gives back and keep nothing else.

■ One notice, in the evening

On evenings when you did shoot something, you get a single notice saying today's video is ready to make. Nothing arrives on days you didn't shoot. And with notices turned off, you can still make it yourself whenever you like.
