REAL HEREDITY Coat colour, pattern, white markings and fur length all pass from parent to kitten exactly as they do in real cats.

• Why are calico and tortoiseshell cats almost always female?
• How can two black cats have a grey kitten? You pick the answers up naturally, just by playing.

PREDICT, BREED, CHECK YOUR ANSWER Choose two cats and the prediction strip shows every coat their kitten could have, with the odds for each. Read the parents' gene cards, work out which pairing gives you the coat you want, and go for it. Every so often a mutation turns up that no prediction saw coming.

4. Kittens grow up in 30 minutes (you get a notification), then they can breed too

COMPLETE THE COLLECTION All 60 coats that are genetically possible are waiting to be found, and every undiscovered one comes with a hint. Go after the 6-star "legendary" cats by working out the right pairings.

SEE WHY THE ODDS ARE WHAT THEY ARE Tap any item in the prediction strip to open a Punnett square for each gene, so you can follow the maths behind the percentage. There's also a family tree going back to the grandparents, and a records screen with lifetime stats and 19 achievements - plenty to do after the collection is full.
