ERA: Donate Electronics

The Electronic Recycling Association collects computers and electronic equipment, destroys the data on them, and refurbishes what it can. Some of it goes to charities, care facilities and schools across Canada. Some is sold, which pays for the next batch. What cannot be reused is recycled for parts and materials.

DONATE Book a pickup from your home or office, arrange a large collection for a business, or use Donate Express for a single item. The forms are built into the app, so there is no website to navigate.

DEPOTS Nine locations across Canada, sorted so the closest one to you is first, with directions and a phone number for each.

REUSE Read about the charities, care facilities and schools that receive refurbished equipment, and see examples of what has been restored.

ECN ERA's credit system, if you have an account. Check your balance, see your full history, and send, request or receive credits by scanning a code. Sign in with the same account you use on app.era.ca. Your balance is protected by Face ID or your passcode, and stays readable when you are offline.

WHAT HAPPENS TO WHAT YOU GIVE Equipment is collected and the data on it is destroyed by software wiping or physical shredding. Technicians and volunteers then decide what can be reused. Working machines are refurbished: some are given to charities, and some are sold, which pays for the next batch. Whatever cannot be reused is stripped for parts and recycled.
