Rideout: Motorcycle Rides

Press start when you pull off. Rideout records the whole track with the screen off, the app closed and your phone in your pocket, all day if that is what the day is. Press stop when you get home and the ride is waiting for you.

WHAT THE RIDE ACTUALLY WAS

Distance, and how much of the time you were really moving rather than standing around at a gate. How much of it was tar and how much was dirt. How much you climbed and how much you dropped. Average and top speed. Every stop you made and how long it took. Your whole track on a map you can pinch into.

SOMETHING WORTH POSTING

Every ride becomes a card with your map and your numbers on it. Send it to Instagram Stories or the WhatsApp group in one tap, copy a link to it, or save it to your photos and do what you like with it. Your riding mates are already in that group chat. Rideout puts the ride there instead of asking everyone to join another feed.

IT DOES NOT LOSE RIDES

Recording keeps going when the screen is off and when you switch apps, and a phone that reboots halfway up a pass does not lose what you had. Rides save on the phone first and upload when you have signal again, so a day out of range is still a day recorded. Nothing waits on a bar of reception.

PLAN THE DAY, THEN RIDE IT

Build a route on rideout.co.za with waypoints, riding styles from Direct to Enduro, and fuel, passes and viewpoints on the map. The builder colours the line by surface, so you know roughly how much of the day is dirt before anyone commits. Open the route on your phone, plan a group ride around it, and send a link that lets people join without an account.

YOURS UNLESS YOU SAY OTHERWISE

Your profile is public or private and the setting covers your rides. Set a privacy zone around home and the part of every ride near it is hidden from other riders, on shared links and on ride cards too. Location is only ever recorded while you are recording a ride. Recorded rides, combined with other riders' and stripped of who rode them, help the route builder learn what the roads are really like; there is a switch for that in your profile if you would rather they did not. And you can delete your account and everything in it from inside the app, immediately, without asking us.
