Japan has thousands of ramen shops, and a single star rating tells you almost nothing. A 4.2 tonkotsu shop is useless to someone who came for shoyu. Ramen Connect ranks shops by how well they match YOUR taste, not by one averaged score.

■ Built for ramen, not "restaurants" Every shop is tagged the way ramen fans actually talk: soup type (shoyu, shio, miso, tonkotsu, tori-paitan), richness, noodle thickness, and style (iekei, jiro-style, tsukemen, abura-soba). Set your preferences once and the recommendations follow.

■ Find shops the way you actually search Open the map to see what is around you right now, or search any station name — Shinjuku, Kyoto, Hakata — to plan before you get there. Shop pages show hours, ratings, and photos, pulled live so they stay current.

■ Your ramen journal Log every bowl with a photo, a rating, and a note. Look back by calendar to see your month, or by prefecture to see the map of where you have eaten. Save shops you want to try and keep them separate from the ones you have been to.

■ It gets better the more it is used Recommendations draw on your own history, so the app sharpens as you log. Shop tags come from what the community records, so rankings get more accurate as more people use them — this is not a static list.

■ AI Search (Premium) Ask in plain language and get an answer grounded in real records: "a rich tsukemen near Shinjuku", "what did I eat most this month", "shops like the one I rated 5 stars". It reads your own history and community trends, not just names.

■ Follow other eaters A timeline of what people are actually eating, with photos. Follow the ones whose taste matches yours and filter to just them. Report and block are one tap away.

■ Visiting Japan The whole app is in English, tags and shop styles included, so you can tell a rich tonkotsu from a light shio before you walk in. Switch between English and Japanese any time.

Start as a guest — no sign-up, no email. Sign in later with Apple or Google if you want your records backed up.

■ Premium (auto-renewable subscription) Unlocks AI Search and removes banner ads. Everything else works free, with no account at all. Monthly JPY 500 (1 month) / Yearly JPY 4,000 (1 year) Subscriptions renew automatically unless auto-renewal is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Manage or cancel anytime in Settings > Apple ID > Subscriptions.
