Noise Recorder measures the sound around you in decibels (dB) and keeps a record together with the time and the place. Footsteps from the flat above, noise from next door, roadworks — it turns "it's too loud" into numbers you can show.

■ What it does ・Measures sound levels from the microphone in real time ・Automatically tracks the maximum, minimum and average (equivalent continuous level, Leq) ・Shows the last 60 seconds as a graph ・Displays the current time and location on screen ・Films with the camera while measuring (evidence recording) ・Saves the video and an "evidence image" to your photo library ・Keeps a list of recordings with notes you can add later ・Explains what each level means and the usual residential guidelines

■ Keeping evidence When you record, the app also builds a single evidence image: the scene, the date and time, the place, the peak level and the graph, all in one picture you can show to a landlord or a local authority.

■ About the numbers The readings are an estimate. Phone microphones differ in sensitivity between models, so this is not a replacement for a certified sound level meter. Comparing readings taken with the same phone is still meaningful, and you can shift the reading in Settings to match a meter you own.

■ Privacy Audio, video and location data stay on your device. They are never sent to the developer or to any third party.

The subscription renews automatically. It renews at the same price unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the period ends. You can cancel any time from your store account. The price is shown on the purchase screen in the app.
