VoiceJournalBuddy is a journal you speak instead of type. Tap record, say what's on your mind, and your words appear as text — punctuated, dated, and saved. A full entry takes about as long as it takes to say it out loud.

That difference matters more than it sounds. Most journals die because typing an entry feels like a chore at exactly the moment you have something worth writing down. Talking doesn't.

EVERYTHING STAYS ON YOUR IPHONE

Speech is transcribed by your iPhone's built-in on-device recognition — your voice is not sent anywhere to be processed. Entries are stored in local storage on your device. There is no account to create, no server, no sync, and no analytics. Nothing you write is transmitted, and nothing is ever seen by us.

Face ID (or your passcode) locks the app on launch and again after it's been in the background, so your journal stays shut even if your phone is unlocked and in someone else's hand.

HOW IT WORKS

Press the microphone and start talking. A live waveform responds to your voice and words appear as you speak, with punctuation added automatically. Stop whenever you're done, then edit the text, give it a title if you want one, and save. Each recording runs up to three minutes — tap "Record more" to keep dictating into the same entry for as long as you need.

Every entry is timestamped the moment you save it and filed by day, so your journal builds itself in order: Today, Yesterday, This week, and back through the months.

A NOTE ON LANGUAGE

Dictation is currently English (US) only. Everything else in the app works regardless of what you write, but speech recognition will not transcribe other languages accurately yet.

PRIVACY

JournalBuddy collects nothing. No account, no email address, no usage data, no crash reporting, no advertising identifiers, no third-party SDKs of any kind. Your entries live on your phone, and they stay there unless you choose to export them yourself.
