TICKING THAT FEELS RIGHT The tick is drawn rather than switched on, and the strikethrough travels with it. The last open item answers differently from every item before it. And when you reset, the ticks fall away from the top down — half a second that feels like tidying up.

LISTS THAT WRITE THEMSELVES Type a topic — "a weekend in the mountains" — and your iPhone suggests a list. That happens with Apple's model right on the device: nothing is sent, nothing lands on a server. Anything that does not fit gets swiped away before the list even exists.
