ExamRounds

ExamRounds is a clinical examination practice tracker designed to help physician trainees organise their preparation, record practice cases, receive structured feedback, and monitor progress over time.

The app is designed as a modern replacement for a hard-copy clinical examination logbook, while adding tools that make practice more structured, measurable and targeted.

Trainees can log both short and long cases, organise them by specialty and subspecialty, and build a longitudinal record of their clinical examination practice. The app is flexible, allowing users to add new specialties to suit their own training needs.

Consultant and supervisor feedback can be collected using unique QR codes or assessment links. This allows an examiner to provide structured feedback without needing their own ExamRounds account. Scores can then be reviewed over time to help identify areas of strength and domains that may benefit from further practice.

ExamRounds also provides personalised performance insights across multiple assessment domains. Rather than relying only on individual case scores, trainees can review trends over time and use this information to focus future practice where it is most needed.

Built-in timers are included for practising both short and long cases, helping trainees rehearse under realistic time constraints. Users can also set dates for upcoming mock examinations and actual examinations so that their preparation can be tracked in context.

For trainees who want more structured supervision, ExamRounds can support regular progress reporting to a nominated supervising physician or Director of Physician Education. Users can opt in or out of this feature. Where enabled, progress summaries may include information such as practice volume, average scores, areas requiring further attention and progress toward upcoming examination dates.

ExamRounds helps trainees answer practical questions such as:

How many short and long cases have I completed? Which specialties have I practised? Which assessment domains are improving? Where am I consistently performing well? Which areas need more focused practice? How is my performance changing as my examination approaches?

The app is designed to support examination preparation and educational performance tracking only. It does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, treatment recommendations, clinical decision support, certification of competence or official examination results.

ExamRounds is specifically designed not to collect patient information. Users must not enter patient names, dates of birth, medical record numbers, identifiable clinical histories, photographs or any other patient-identifiable information. Entering patient information is prohibited by the Terms of Use and may also breach professional, ethical, workplace or legal obligations.

Free-text entry is intentionally limited. It is used only for purposes such as adding custom specialty names and recording the names of supervising physicians or examiners, and must not be used to record patient information.
