Tap a picture and it says the word, makes its sound, then says something about it. "Cow. Mooooo. Brown cow." It never asks your child a question, because a question is a test, and a child who cannot answer one learns that talking is a test too.

YOUR OWN VOICE Record any word, sentence or song yourself, and your child hears you instead of the app. Four built-in English voices to choose from if you would rather. Recordings never leave your phone.

MADE TO BE CALM No scores. No stars. No streaks. No badges. No autoplay. No music stings. A pause after every spoken line, so there is a gap for your child to speak into. Set a daily limit and the app stops for the day — whatever is being read finishes first, so nobody is cut off mid-sentence.

FOR THE GROWN-UP Ask for more Mandarin and the app tells you whether your child is actually getting it, counted on your device from taps in the app. Nothing is uploaded. There is no account.
