HOW IT PLAYS

1. The announcer deals a question. How many bones are in the human body? How many moons does Jupiter have? What year was the microwave invented?
2. One player is in the hot seat. Say your guess out loud or type it, then pass the phone to the next player.
3. When everyone has guessed, the true answer lands on screen with a one-line fact and a dry remark about how you all did.
4. Closest guess takes the round. Best score after 3, 5, 7 or 10 rounds takes the show.

WHY A SIX-YEAR-OLD CAN BEAT AN ADULT

There is no buzzer and no red X. Miss by fourteen and the screen says OFF BY 14, which is a distance, not a verdict. A decent instinct beats a memorised fact, so people who "are bad at trivia" keep playing, and a kid who reasons out loud will absolutely take a round off a grown-up.

George is warm, British and dry. He reads the questions, announces who is in the hot seat, and has opinions about the results. Every line is a real recording, not a synthetic voice, and he works without a connection.

The bundled game never touches the network. Spoken guesses are turned into numbers by the speech recognition built into your iPhone, and the audio is not uploaded anywhere. Player names, scores and the Hall of Fame stay on your device. No ads, no analytics, no sign-in of any kind.

Type any topic, dinosaurs, the 1994 World Cup, Minecraft, your own street, and the show writes a round about it, with free-form answers judged by how close they came. Three written topics are free. After that, the Family Pass covers 45 written topics a month for the whole household, which is more than a family gets through.

Custom topics are the one feature that uses the internet: the topic you type and the youngest player's age are sent to our server, which uses OpenAI to write the questions. Nothing else about your game is sent.

Family Pass is an auto-renewing subscription: $4.99 per month or $29.99 per year (prices vary by region). Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase. The subscription renews automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, and you can manage or cancel it in your Apple Account settings. The bundled game, the announcer and voice answers are free forever and never require the pass.
