MotionStage: Play & Pose MMD

Dance in front of your phone and the model dances with you, live. Recording gives a rough .vmd draft to clean up in desktop MMD. It all stays on your device.

MotionStage plays MikuMikuDance models and motions on your device — and lets you perform them yourself.

Point the front camera at yourself and the model copies how you move, in real time and entirely on device. Record the take and MotionStage writes it out as a standard .vmd motion file you can open in MMD or reload here. What comes out is a first pass from a single camera — a starting point to clean up in MMD, not a finished dance.

MODELS • Load PMX models straight from a .zip — no unpacking first — or from a folder • Archives written on Japanese Windows are read correctly, filenames and all • Keep a library of models and switch between them • Three slots remember a model along with its physics, colour tone and framing • Expression sliders for every morph the author exposed

MOTION • Play .vmd motions with a scrubbable timeline • Fourteen built-in motions and postures, so there is something to move on day one • Play along to an audio file of your own, with an adjustable offset • Bullet physics for hair, skirts and accessories, at three quality settings • Step whole frames at 30 fps to match MMD exactly, or interpolate for smoothness

MIRROR — play it yourself • Drive the model with the front camera — body, arms and head • Move about and the model moves with you • Your face drives the model's own expression morphs • Record a take as a rough .vmd draft — one phone camera, not a mocap rig. Clean it up in MMD. • Video never leaves your device

VIEW • Toon shading, adjustable colour tone, fill light and shadows, light or dark backdrop • Orbit, pinch and pan; optionally keep the camera on the model • Frame the full body, the upper body or the face • Share a still of any frame, or record the scene as a video with the music

MotionStage comes with a poseable artist's mannequin — and a second one with a face, for expression tracking — so there is something to move the moment you open it. Bring your own PMX models and VMD motions for the rest.
