GRDN tells you what your garden needs today, and why.

This is not a watering timer. GRDN reads the weather where you actually are, works out how much water your soil has lost since it last rained, and asks you to water only when the plants in that particular bed have genuinely run short. Rain due tomorrow means it waits. A greenhouse is not watered by the sky, so it does not wait.

SEVERAL GARDENS, KEPT APART

A kitchen bed, a greenhouse and a windowsill are three different places with three different needs. Set each one up once — open ground or raised bed, pot, capillary box or cold frame, and which way it faces — and GRDN treats them as the separate places they are. A south-facing wall runs warmer and drier than a north-facing bed sixty feet away, and the advice reflects it.

FROST, BEFORE IT HAPPENS

GRDN knows what each plant can take and what the night is going to do. When those two do not match, it says so the evening before, while you can still cover the beds or bring the citrus in. Your last and first frost dates are worked out from fifteen years of weather at your own location, not read off a zone map drawn across half a country.

HARVEST THAT MOVES WITH THE WEATHER

Days-to-maturity on a seed packet assumes an average summer. GRDN counts the warmth your plants have actually had, so a cold couple of weeks pushes the harvest back and a warm one pulls it forward.

FIND THE PLANT, IN YOUR OWN LANGUAGE

41,468 plants by name across twelve languages, on the phone, working with no signal at all. 435 of them carry a full care guide written by hand — sowing depth, crop coefficients, frost tolerance, pruning, the lot. If you cannot find something under its local name, GRDN offers to look under another language.

WHAT IS FREE

One garden, ten plants, and the whole engine: real watering advice, real frost warnings, and the frost alert on your phone the evening before. If you keep a balcony and six pots, you never need to pay us anything.

LOOK ANY PLANT UP

GRDN is a reference book as well as a to-do list. Search a plant you have not planted and it tells you what it is like — light, hardiness, spacing, when to sow it, how to know it is ready, what to do with it in winter — with the source of every figure at the foot of the page.

As many gardens and as many plants as you keep, plus reminders for the routine work — watering, harvest and pruning on the morning they are due.

GRDN Pro is an auto-renewing subscription: $19.99 a year, with the first month free, or $2.99 a month. Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation, and renews unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the period ends. Manage or cancel it in your App Store account settings.
