Mewlo listens to your cat and tells you what kind of vocalisation it heard — a meow, a purr, a hiss — and what that might mean in the moment.

WHAT IT ACTUALLY DOES

Mewlo classifies cat vocalisations and estimates a likely state. What you get is a playful, evidence-based interpretation — not a real translation of animal language. Cats do not have a human-like language to translate. Every result shows two separate confidence figures: how sure Mewlo is about the sound, and how sure it is about the meaning. Those are different questions and they usually have different answers.

When nothing matches clearly enough, Mewlo says so instead of guessing.

EVERYTHING RUNS ON YOUR PHONE

Audio is analysed on your device. Recordings are not uploaded, and there is no setting that could upload them — Mewlo has no way to send a recording anywhere. The app does send anonymous usage counts so we can see how many people use it; those carry no audio and never the sentence Mewlo shows you.

IT LEARNS YOUR CAT

Research on cat vocalisation finds that context is easier to read when you already know the individual cat. Mewlo works the same way: correct a result and it remembers that pattern for that specific cat. Every cat gets its own profile and its own history.

CONTEXT IS PART OF THE ANALYSIS

Mark what was happening — feeding time, at the door, in the carrier — and Mewlo uses it, and shows you that it used it.

BUILT ON PUBLISHED WORK

Mewlo's readings carry an evidence strength. A hiss is a defensive warning; that is well established and the app says it plainly. A purr is more ambiguous than most people assume, and the app says that too. Sources and method are listed in the app.

Mewlo is not a veterinary tool and does not diagnose anything. If your cat's behaviour changes noticeably, talk to your vet.
