PictureBook: Photo Readers

PictureBook turns the photos already on your phone into a short English picture book, written at a reading level you choose.

THE BOOK IS MADE FROM YOUR OWN PHOTOS

This is the whole point. Your child does not read about a stock cartoon character — they read about the hill they climbed on Saturday, the dog they met, the house they live in. Each photo you pick is redrawn as a picture-book illustration, so the people and places stay recognisably yours while the book still looks like a book.

Pick six to twelve photos from a day out. Choose a difficulty. About ninety seconds later the finished book is on your shelf.

WRITTEN TO A LEVEL, NOT JUST "SIMPLE"

Most AI writing tools produce text that merely sounds childlike. This one checks its own work. Every page is measured against the level you picked — vocabulary against a sight-word list, sentence length, number of sentences, tense, and how much the sentence pattern repeats. Anything over the limit is rewritten automatically before you ever see it.

If a book still misses after three rewrites, we tell you so rather than pretend it passed.

ELEVEN LEVELS

From single words on a page up to complex sentences with varied structure. Lower levels are word books — one short repeating sentence per page — and the app says so upfront, so you know what you are getting.

READ ALOUD, WORD BY WORD

Tap play and the page is read aloud, highlighting each word as it is spoken, so a new reader can match what they hear to what they see. Runs entirely on your device.

MAKE IT YOURS

Edit any page's text and the app re-checks it against the level while you type. Insert another photo anywhere and it writes that page for you, matching the level and the voice of the rest of the book.

READS OFFLINE

Finished books are stored on your device. No connection needed to read them.

ABOUT AI AND YOUR PHOTOS

Illustrations are AI-generated. The photos you select are sent to our service and on to Google's Gemini API to generate them. Your original photos are never stored on our servers. Full details in the privacy policy.

ABOUT THE DIFFICULTY LEVELS

The difficulty score is our own internal measure, calculated from checkable rules about vocabulary, sentence length and sentence patterns. It does not represent a level in any third-party reading system, and it is not an assessment of your child's reading ability.

FOR PARENTS

PictureBook is a creation tool for grown-ups. If children appear in your photos, please confirm you are their parent or guardian, or have that person's permission.

SUBSCRIPTION

Your first book is free. After that:

Monthly - $9.99 per month, 8 books per month Yearly - $69.99 per year, 6 books per month

Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase. The subscription renews automatically unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Manage or cancel it any time in Settings > Apple Account > Subscriptions. Unused books do not carry over.
