Cabin Mode: eSIM Travel Data

Cabin Mode is a travel eSIM app that gets you online the moment you land, without a physical SIM swap.

Buy a data plan before you fly, install it while you still have Wi-Fi, and switch it on when you land. Your usual number stays exactly where it is.

HOW IT WORKS

1. Pick where you are going. 196 countries, plus regional plans that cover a whole trip on one eSIM.
2. Choose a plan that matches the trip rather than a contract. Days and GB, nothing else to decide.
3. Pay with Apple Pay. You do not need an account until this step.
4. Install before you fly. One tap on iPhone, with a QR code and manual entry there if you need them.
5. Land, switch the line on, and you have data.

ONE eSIM, A WHOLE TRIP

Europe on one plan: 41 countries, no swapping at every border. Regional plans also cover Asia, the Americas and Africa, and a global plan spans 127 countries.

Plans sized for the trip you are actually taking. A few days or a few weeks, a small allowance or 50 GB, on 3G, 4G and 5G networks.

Data that starts when you arrive. Most plans begin on first network connection at your destination, so nothing counts against you while the eSIM sits installed and waiting.

Prices in your own currency, so what you see is close to what your bank will show.

Top-ups that keep the same line. Add data to an eSIM you have already installed instead of starting again with a new profile.

Alerts worth having. We tell you when a plan is nearly out of data, when it is close to expiring, and when a new eSIM is ready to install.

WORTH KNOWING BEFORE YOU BUY

Usage figures come from the network operator and lag one to three hours. What you see is the last figure reported, with the time it was reported next to it. We do not dress it up as a live meter.

Validity counts down from activation whether you are travelling or not.

An eSIM installs once. If you delete the profile from your device it is spent and needs reissuing, so install it when you are ready rather than to try it out.

You need an eSIM-capable, carrier-unlocked phone. That is every iPhone since the XR.

PAYING

Payment is handled by Stripe, and Cabin Mode never sees your full card number.

Plans are one-off by default. You buy a plan, you use it, it ends.

If you travel often, you can choose a monthly plan instead. It tops up the same eSIM automatically before your data runs out, so the line and the number stay the same and there is nothing to install again. It is billed by Stripe, the price is the one you saw when you started, and you can stop it any time from inside the app — you keep the month you have already paid for.
